A lesson from the school called LIFE

"When you judge someone, you don't define them, you define yourself."    -Unknown

What would people think about me? What would they say?

Aren't we all confined inside the boundaries of people's opinions about us? Every step we take in our lives is affected by people's views about us. Their judgements and their critical thoughts always run in our minds. Our life choices, reflect these opinions and restrict us from following our heart. But, are we really answerable to them, about our life and about our wishes?

No. We are never answerable to anyone for how we want to live our life. We let ourselves down when we justify our decisions. Every time we provide them a reason, we doubt our own self. By giving them what they want, we continue disappointing ourselves. When we don't speak up, when we don't stand up, we betray ourselves. We give them a chance to question us and pull us down.

The choices we make and the kind of life we live is wholly virtuous if we live it truthfully. As long as our alternatives don't hurt others' sentiments, we're playing it just... Everyone has the right to follow their heart and stand up for themselves. If seeing you look after yourself and raising your voice makes other's think that you're answerable to them, then they are highly mistaken... you're not!

Often we forget the difference between expressing our views, staunchly believing them and not respecting others' perspectives. People will respect you and your values as long as you respect theirs. Everyone is free to live their life their way and believe in what they want to. But, they're never free to disrespect someone's beliefs...

As a writer, there were several times when I'd hesitate to show people my work... thinking about what would they say... how will they react... will they understand my point of view... or I'd disrespect theirs? But, I found the answers to all these questions within me. That, as long as I tenuously present my viewpoints, without disrespecting others, I'd be playing it fair and just. As long as I accept people and their ideologies without judgements, I can expect the same in return...

  5. If you are going to respond to your critics then getting a response like that should be your goal.rather than beating the hatters back with insult, win them back with sincerity.most people don't want to be convinced that your work is wonderful they just want to know how do you care
